In 2012, SAFEhouse was honored to receive the GOLDIE award from the Bay Guardian, as well as the Best of the Bay.


SAFEhouse for the Performing Arts, a nonprofit presenting organization, specializes in incubating new performing art through residencies, workshops and performances.

Dance, performance, drama at

715 Howard Street at Fifth Street

in SOMA.  Every year, 120 groups perform in 230 shows. Resident artists are provided with rehearsal  space for two shows.


Our new sister space is located at One Grove Street at Market, Hyde and Eighth Streets in Central Market. 

Up to 2500 square feet  of space is designed for rent to performing and visual artists.


This festival is presented every Fall, at Z Space, 450 Florida Street, SF.

SPF is The Garage's annual summer performance festival, featuring choreographers who have successfully completed the Garage's RAW program (resident artist workshop).
